The money stack

Florida will help pay for this.
Almost nobody shows the math.

Three programs and price levers stack on a window project here. Each one has its own page, its own estimator, and its own fine print, spelled out.

My Safe Florida Home

Up to $10,000 in grant money

The state program has matched $2 for every $1 you spend on qualifying opening protection, up to $10,000, after a free wind mitigation inspection. Funding moves in cycles, so timing matters.

Grant estimator
Wind mitigation credits

15% to 45% off the wind portion

Florida law makes insurers file credits for wind mitigation features, including impact rated opening protection. The credit hits the windstorm share of your premium, verified by one inspection form.

Savings estimator
Cooling season math

$408 a year in energy, cited

One published Energy Star based estimate puts Orlando savings at $408 or more per year when certified efficient windows replace single pane glass. We show where that number comes from and when to trust it.

Straight answers

Questions Orlando actually asks.

Is Orlando Window Pros a window contractor?

No. Orlando Window Pros is an independent advertising and referral service. We publish local cost and program research, and we connect homeowners with licensed, insured local window contractors who provide the actual quotes and installation. We never sell, bid, or install.

What do new windows cost in Orlando?

Published guides put standard vinyl replacement windows at roughly $450 to $650 per window installed for typical Orlando jobs, and impact rated windows at $800 to $1,400 per window for most projects, with full impact project pricing from $900 to $2,500 per opening once permitting and disposal are included. Published whole home impact guides for 15 to 20 windows run from $12,000 to $45,000. Your quote depends on sizes, floor, and frame condition, so treat these as a starting range.

Is the My Safe Florida Home grant still available?

As of August 20, 2026 the state portal is accepting accounts and applications, processed in priority groups set by law, and grants remain subject to available funding. The published structure matches $2 of state money for every $1 you spend on qualifying upgrades, up to a $10,000 grant, after a free program wind mitigation inspection, and work may not begin before grant approval. Funding and phase status change, so confirm current availability at mysafeflhome.com before you count on it.

Do Orlando homes really need impact windows?

Most of metro Orlando sits outside the coastal zones where Florida's building code requires opening protection, so impact glass here is usually a choice rather than a mandate. It is still how you unlock wind mitigation insurance credits, storm protection you never have to put up, and noticeably quieter rooms. Our inland guide walks through when it makes sense.

How do the free quotes work?

You tell us about your project once. We pass it to a licensed, insured local window contractor who serves your area, and they contact you to schedule a free measure and a written quote. There is no fee to you and no obligation, and we explain exactly how we make money on our About page.

Will new windows lower my homeowners insurance?

Florida law requires insurers to file credits for wind mitigation features, including impact rated opening protection. The credit applies to the windstorm portion of your premium and commonly falls between 15% and 45% of that portion, verified through a wind mitigation inspection. The exact number comes from your insurer's filed rates, so use our estimator as an illustration, not a promise.
